V. Rules Discussion outcomes after 16th May meeting.

New Rules to implement

1) Contact:

a. A clear gap must be present between players.
b. No set distance.
c. No contact.
d. That means no body (torso) contact at all.
e. Torso contact ‘may’ occur when 2 players (neither in possession of the ball) are contesting for the ball. Once a player has possession, the defensive player must back away.
f. No contact is to be made with any part of the opposing players body except for the hand holding the ball and only in an attempt to knock the ball from their grasp. Contact with the arm will result in a Foul.


2) Intimidating play, encroaching within a players physical space

a. The player with the ball should be able to stand upright without a defensive player standing over them.


3) Steps within a Safe Zone:

a. If deemed to be in the Safe Zone, multiple steps are allowed.
b. Grounding the ball in a Safe Zone will reset the step count (once only)
c. A player must stand up so their feet are directly next to where the ball has been grounded. Once their feet are there, they may lift the ball off the ground.
d. Lifting the ball before your feet have come to a stop may result in a “Travel” being called


4) Diving into a Safe Zone:

a. Diving isn’t classed as a step.
b. A player must stand up so their feet are directly next to where the ball has been grounded. Once their feet are there, they may lift the ball off the ground.
c. Lifting the ball before your feet have come to a stop may result in a “Travel” being called.


5) Tied game deciders:

a. 1v for 1 min for regular season
b. 1v for 1 min for games 1 and 2 of Finals Series. 3v Extra time (until result) for 3 game of finals.


6) Penalty Shot Line:

a. Penalty shots are taken from a spot marked in the center of the Restricted Zone.
